The Kemp Elektroniks POWER SOURCE is a heavy duty mains conditioner with a 3.8kW maximum power supply capability. Within its substantial 13kg chassis it contains multiple smoothing and filter sections to ensure clean AC mains output, free from digital, RF and switching interference. Over-voltage, surge protection and DC-offset filtering are also incorporated. A total of 8 dedicated outlets are provided for use with power amps, preamps, digital sources and ancillary equipment.

The KE POWER SOURCE is a fully equipped professional solution to mains pollution. The good news for audio enthusiast is that it provides clean mains without compromising other aspects of a system's sound quality. Power amplifiers retain their speed and dynamics, while freedom from mains pollution can give a significant overall improvement in system clarity. When used in an AV system, benefits to video picture quality can be equally noticeable, with improvements in picture noise and color sharpness.

The KE-POWER SOURCE is the result of four years of laborious measuring and experimenting with line conditioners. The goal was to develop a line conditioner with the most positive effect on the ear possible. As with every audio component, a line conditioner introduces a tonal colouration to an A/V system. All the parts of a line conditioner are responsible for this. Listening sessions involving many different A/V systems have helped to make the tonal colouration of the KE-POWER SOURCE as neutral and musical as possible.

Most line conditioners do not have a positive musical effect when they are connected to a power amplifier. They often result in reduced dynamics and congestion during loud passages. Another problem is that a power amplifier can draw a lot current from the mains as "pulses" which can create substantial levels of pollution affecting the rest of the A/V system. Many high-powered amplifiers have been constantly used as part of the development of the POWER SOURCE.

Another common pollution problem is created by digital equipment. Computers, CD-players, DVD-players, etc. can themselves create distortions in your system’s mains supply which negatively influence the musical performance of the rest of the system. Much attention has been paid to this aspect of the performance of the POWER SOURCE.

With its provision of 8 output sockets the KE-POWER SOURCE has been developed to the meet the power supply requirements of a complete A/V system. Its relatively small dimensions and black colour make it easy to hide behind your AV equipment. The standard power cord is 1.5 m. (5ft) long, with other lengths available on request.

To get the best results from the KE-POWER SOURCE it is necessary to have it connected to the mains with the correct polarity. The red dot on the power plug has to be at the phase side of the (wall) outlet. This will make the phase correspond with the phase indicators on the power outlets. Due to lack of standardisation this is not applicable in the UK and USA (you can open the plugs and switch the wiring manually though).

The KE-POWER SOURCE PLUS is basically the same as the standard KE-POWER SOURCE, but all contacts are gold plated for better conductivity, and there are built-in Quantum Approach module(s). It is also supplied with a 1.5m (5ft) KE Power Cord Plus. All this serves to improve the performance of the standard KE-POWER SOURCE considerably.
